Tiki Torch System Specification

 

General

 

  1. The tiki torch system shall be installed in compliance with the following codes:
    1. Uniform Plumbing Code

                                                              i.      Chapter 12 – Fuel Gas Piping

                                                            ii.      Other chapters as applicable

    1. Uniform Mechanical Code

                                                              i.      Chapter 3 – General Requirements

                                                            ii.      Other chapters as applicable

    1. NFPA 54 – National Fuel Gas Code

                                                              i.      Specifically relating to unlisted decorative appliances and clearances to combustibles.

                                                            ii.      Other chapters as applicable

    1. Local codes and ordinance

 

  1. The tiki torch system shall be installed by a licensed contractor familiar with gas appliance controls and the proper functioning of same.

 

Equipment

 

Provide a complete direct spark tiki torch ignition system consisting of the following components:

 

  1. Torch head: Spun copper, brass and stainless steel construction with aerated brass orifice to control flow rate to 25,000 BTUH @ 3.5” w.c. natural gas
  2. Electronic ignition controller: AGA listed direct spark electronic ignition controller, non-lockout, 24 VAC.  The ignition controller will re-light the flame if blown out.
  3. Dual combination gas valve: AGA listed dual combination gas valve with two gas valves in series, main gas regulator factory set @ 3.5” w.c.
  4. High voltage cable: UL listed, 15,000 VDC rating, 250 C temperature rating.
  5. 120VAC/24VAC, 40 VA transformer.
  6. NEMA 4X control boxes with WP connectors.
  7. UL listed shutoff valve
  8. Ground wire: #14 THHN stranded copper wire
  9. 1” Schedule 40 steel support pole, painted for corrosion resistance.
  10. Faux bamboo or copper pole sheathing
  11. Single point connection to 120VAC power and gas.
  12. 4 bolt mounting plate.

Installation

 

  1. This product is intended for outdoor installation only.  Indoor installation will require additional systems such as exhaust hoods, fans, additional controls, etc.
  2. Install on non-combustible surface.  Do not install on wooden decks.
  3. Height to the burner must be at least 84” above surrounding grade.
  4. The tiki torch system shall be installed such that the gas piping has proper cover over the piping between the control box and tiki torch. (recommended at least 12”)
  5. The supply gas piping shall be sized to accommodate 25,000 BTUH.
  6. All wiring to control boxes to be performed as to preserve the NEMA 4X rating of the control box.
  7. Control boxes are to be mounted at least 6” above finish grade to the bottom of the control box.
  8. The control boxes may be covered with a non-airtight method of concealment such as a faux rock.

Clearance to all landscape and planting materials (to the sides and overhead) must be maintained per NFPA 54.
