Tiki Torch System Specification
General
- The tiki torch system shall be installed in compliance
with the following codes:
- Uniform Plumbing Code

Chapter 12 – Fuel Gas Piping

- NFPA 54 – National Fuel Gas Code

Specifically relating to unlisted decorative appliances and clearances to
combustibles.

- The tiki torch system shall be installed by a licensed
contractor familiar with gas appliance controls and the proper functioning of
same.
Equipment
Provide a complete direct spark tiki torch ignition system
consisting of the following components:
- Torch head: Spun copper, brass and stainless steel
construction with aerated brass orifice to control flow rate to 25,000 BTUH @
3.5” w.c. natural gas
- Electronic ignition controller: AGA listed direct spark
electronic ignition controller, non-lockout, 24 VAC. The ignition controller
will re-light the flame if blown out.
- Dual combination gas valve: AGA listed dual combination
gas valve with two gas valves in series, main gas regulator factory set @ 3.5”
w.c.
- High voltage cable: UL listed, 15,000 VDC rating, 250 C
temperature rating.
- 120VAC/24VAC, 40 VA transformer.
- NEMA 4X control boxes with WP connectors.
- UL listed shutoff valve
- Ground wire: #14 THHN stranded copper wire
- 1” Schedule 40 steel support pole, painted for corrosion
resistance.
- Faux bamboo or copper pole sheathing
- Single point connection to 120VAC power and gas.
- 4 bolt mounting plate.

Installation
- This product is intended for outdoor installation only.
Indoor installation will require additional systems such as exhaust hoods,
fans, additional controls, etc.
- Install on non-combustible surface. Do not install on
wooden decks.
- Height to the burner must be at least 84” above
surrounding grade.
- The tiki torch system shall be installed such that the
gas piping has proper cover over the piping between the control box and tiki
torch. (recommended at least 12”)
- The supply gas piping shall be sized to accommodate
25,000 BTUH.
- All wiring to control boxes to be performed as to
preserve the NEMA 4X rating of the control box.
- Control boxes are to be mounted at least 6” above finish
grade to the bottom of the control box.
- The control boxes may be covered with a non-airtight
method of concealment such as a faux rock.
Clearance to all
landscape and planting materials (to the sides and overhead) must be maintained
per NFPA 54.
